Each day is different, taking you into our local area to discover parts of Bali that most travellers dont get to experience - jungle treks, cycling, sunrise volcano climb, canyon tubing. We believe in balance. Your body will appreciate the restorative yoga sessions at the end of each day. The benefits of soaking in the hot springs and relaxing with a traditional Balinese massage are well deserved. Our fresh, authentic village style food will nourish and delight you. Just hanging out in our swinging chairs looking out over the rice paddies is time well spent.

On our four-hour trek adventure we cross ravines, walk through rice paddies, traverse local farms and have some fun canyon tubing down a section of river. We refuel with some lunch before heading home on the uphill trek out to our village. Its a great way to see local life whilst also challenging your fitness and enjoying spectacular scenery. Be prepared to get muddy and wet at times!
Explore the back roads of Bali on a guided bike tour stopping at villages and places of cultural interest. Its mainly downhill and there is a support vehicle if you need a break. Suitable for all riders. A delicious breakfast and lunch is included.
This is an exciting and challenging day. Anyone with an average level of fitness can achieve the goal of getting to the top by sunrise. It is a very outdoors experience, walking on steep footpaths, walking by torchlight for the first hour and the last km is quite steep. Reaching the top makes it all worthwhile. Take home a great sense of achievement and some amazing photos.
There will be two to three guides with the group. They are very experienced and very helpful. They are there to give you a hand up if you need it. Usually a group breaks into different paces and the guides split up accordingly. It is not a problem to walk at a slower pace, as you wont hold up others who may want to steam ahead. We have time to relax at the top, so its not a race. Its usually around a 4-5 hour round trip.
Once you are soaking in the lakeside hot springs, the 3am wake-up call will be a distant memory!
Our kitchen is not only the source of wonderful food but it also provides us with delicious body scrubs throughout the retreat. Wayan, our extraordinary body therapist will share her secrets. Learn how to whip up a body scrub, hair treatment or facemask using ingredients such as turmeric, wild honey, ginger, avocado, papaya & coconut. Getting your glow on just get easier.
Your program includes a 45 minutes Balinese massage. There will be free time to book yourself into additional revitalizing treatments during your stay. Perfect for the rest times in the program.
Ayung Sari Indah loosely translates to the beautiful sweet nectar of the Ayung. When we first started creating Ayung Sari Indah, the sound of the Ayung River running through the ravine below our land, was the inspiration for Wayan.
Many years have passed since we built our first basic hut overlooking the mountains and river. It was just a place to sleep, without access to electricity or running water. Gradually, one bungalow at a time, Wayan, a Balinese artist, has created an escape.
The sound of running water continues to inspire, as Wayan works on creating Suara Air the next stage in the life of Ayung Sari Indah. Translating to the sound of water Wayans dream is to build a forest around us, with the sound of running water wherever you go. The water reminds us that movement and change is continual. Ayung Sari Indah is a place to escape the hustle and bustle of life, treating the senses and enriching your life. It is our Bali life that we choose to share with guests, family and friends.
The retreat will be held at Ayung Sari Indah. Life revolves around farming in the village. Made up of a series of family compounds, a school, a few warungs (local stores), the banjar (community meeting place) and temples, the village is surrounded by terraced rice paddies, family farms and jungle filled ravines. Houses are basic, smoky kitchens are fuelled by wood fires, public waterways are used for bathing and washing clothes. Mobile phones, motorbikes and televisions are the modern day additions. We are part of this community.
We live our life with respect to local customs and culture. You will see many daily rituals and ceremonies taking place around you. We invite our guests to accompany us to local ceremonies, where appropriate. You will be made to feel very welcome. We just ask that you dress appropriately, have an open mind and respect local traditions. You will be sharing a very unique Balinese cultural experience.
Our eight bungalows are set amongst our gardens and rice paddies. Built from local bamboo, stone and timber with grass roofs, they are very simple and acknowledge traditional style. Each one has its own character, every view different.
We call it simple luxury.
The bungalows are simple sleeping rooms. Its cool at night, so we have no need for ac or ceiling fans. The private bathrooms are outdoors surrounded by lush gardens.
Whilst your bungalow is your space for privacy, there are many places to kick back and relax throughout the property. Bring your book, settle into the cushions, and relax in the bale overlooking the rice paddies. Or escape to the daybed in our library for an afternoon nap. Stretch out in the yoga bale in between sessions or take a walk down to our warung and have a coffee with our local friends.
You wont find mini bars or wide screens in your room. Your bungalow is a haven away from that world. This is your chance to sit on your balcony, drinking our fresh lemongrass tea, taking in your surrounds.
